Avoid these 3 voice mail mistakes

I found three additional voice mail mistakes that folks commonly make. Be sure to avoid these!

  1. Failure to do research – Lazy sales reps leave lazy voice mails. Reps don’t even have an inkling about the nature of the business conducted by the prospect he is leaving a message for. Do you research in advance and tailor your voice message to meet the prospect’s needs.
  2. Provide an infomercial - Do NOT leave an infomercial recording. Voice mails should be short and to the point and should quickly and clearly explain a value statement and direct benefit to the prospect. If you drone on and on – you will be deleted.
  3. Poor delivery – Practice makes perfect. As soon as you stutter and stumble around in your voice mail message, you will be deleted. Do not make this mistake. Sound smooth, confident and secure.

Continue to practice effective voice messaging techniques. They will pay off in the long run.
